Who maintains this site?

This site is maintained by the staff of the Utah Automated Geographic Reference Center (AGRC). The database of map links that are shown on maps.utah.gov are updated on a weekly basis.

How does the site work?

The site was constructed using shareware php web technology and a mySQL database. Edits to the database are reflected in real time on the php-generated web pages. The site was conceptualized by AGRC together with programming, graphic design, and hosting from the Division of Information Technology Services' Application and Web Development Group. How can a map be submitted for inclusion on the maps.utah.gov site?

The maps.utah.gov site exists to provide the public with a catalog of online maps created by government agencies and others that contain information pertaining to areas of Utah. Map submissions must be content neutral, suitable for a public audience, and devoid of banner ads and commercial references. Email us with the following information if you would like to add your agency's map site to our map index and database:

- a map title (50 char max),
- suggested map description (100 char),
- the URL address for the site,
- hosting agency
- contact information for the map site (name, organization, address, phone, email) -- this will not be part of the site content

What geographic features can maps be classified by?

At present, maps are classified by the smallest geographic area that contains the content depicted, starting with Utah counties, regions (e.g. Wasatch Front, Four Corners, etc), statewide, and finally national.
